Hughes Bridge to be Widened
It was announced recently that the Hughes Bridge is to be widening as part of the new N15 Sligo to Bundoran road project.
The new road, which will run for over 26 kilometres (roughly 16 miles) from Hughes Bridge in Sligo Town to Bunduff Bridge on the County Leitrim border will be of a single carriageway construction for most of its length, with a dual carriageway section extending from Hughes Bridge out as far as Rathcormack.
The new road will by-pass the villages of Rathcormac, Drumcliff, Grange and Cliffoney, through which the N15 currently passes.
The N15 extends from Sligo Town to Lifford in County Donegal, forming part of the Atlantic Route Corridor which was highlighted for improvements in the Transport 21 Initiative, which sets out the Government’s plan for the development of Ireland’s Transport Policy for the next ten years.
