A recently introduced scheme now enables visitors to Sligo Town to download an interactive walking tour of the town straight onto their Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, free of charge, at Sligo‘s Tourist Information Office in O’Connell Street.
The tour puts a strong emphasis on the rich cultural heritage of the town, with luminaries such as Bram Stoker and Spike Milligan featuring alongside the more traditional writers associated with Sligo such as Sebastian Barry and of course William Butler Yeats.
Once visitors download the tour to their phone they will receive:
* A map of the town highlighting key points of interest which can be viewed on their mobile screen.
* Audio files which are edited and remixed with music, and where applicable sound effects, giving clear instructions on where to go and what to look out for.
* A picture of each point of interest, which will festure on the mobile phone with text details regarding opening hours, special offers and more Brass plaques have been placed at points of interest along the trail.
