One of Sligo‘s eyesore landmark’s, the Doorly Park maisonettes, which have been empty and derelict for a number of years, have finally been demolished.
The 28 derelict houses in the maisonettes blocks were knocked down by bulldozers over the past week, after an operation lasting several weeks took place to remove and dispose of large amounts of asbestos from the buildings.
The site will be grassed and sealed with security fencing, cctv cameras and floodlighting when demolition is completed.
The 28 maisonettes houses were built duplex style in the late 1950s.
